LEARN ABOUT JUDEA & SAMARIA

Beyond its biblical, historical, and religious significance, Judea and Samaria are vital to Israel’s security and economic future. Discover why this strategic region is central to the vision of One Jewish State and why Israeli sovereignty over this land is essential.

Judea & Samaria: The Enduring Heartland of the Jewish People

Judea and Samaria, historically known as the biblical heartland of the Jewish people, have been central to Jewish identity & survival for over 3,000 years. These regions, encompassing ancient cities like Hebron, Shiloh & Beit El, were home to the patriarchs and the early Israelite tribes. During the First & Second Temple periods, Judea was the political, spiritual & economic center of Jewish life, with Jerusalem as its capital. After the Roman destruction of the Second Temple in 70 CE, Jews faced exile, but a continuous Jewish presence remained.

Through centuries of foreign rule—Byzantine, Islamic, Crusader, Ottoman, and British—Jewish aspirations to return persisted. The modern return began in the late 19th century with Zionist pioneers, culminating in Israel’s 1967 reunification of the area. Today, Judea and Samaria remain a focal point of Jewish survival, heritage, identity, and religious significance, continuing to shape the national and historical consciousness of the Jewish people.
